SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Republican Party has hired Bryan Smith as its new executive director.

Smith has worked at the Utah Legislature, for Republican organizations across the country and most recently in the private sector as a director of political marketing.

"Bryan is a dedicated leader who will complement the existing talent in our party's organization. His background in both the private sector and state politics will help ensure the advancement of Republican ideals and our continued success as a party," said Utah Republican Party Chairman James Evans.

Smith replaces Julian Babbitt, who left for a job as the executive director of the Orange County Republican Party in California.

Smith was born in Utah and lives in Salt Lake City with his wife and two children.
