OREM — More than 30 local solo artists and bands are slated to perform for thousands July 25 at the first-ever Timpanogos Music Festival.
The emerging artists will entertain crowds at no charge on three stages. Attendees can buy food from a selection of 10 food trucks, rock climb and more, according to event organizer Tyler Monks.
Sponsored by the city of Orem Care Program, the purpose of the festival is to "give a showcasing to the plethora of talent that's popping out of Utah on a larger scale," Monks said.
"To get 5,000 to 10,000 people to a local band festival is a really big deal," Monks said. "There's plenty of major label touring bands that would love that kind of crowd."
Monks, a co-founder of the event host, the Utah Music Association, said the UMA's mission is to "provide performance opportunities and education for aspiring popular music artists and bands."
The Timpanogos Music Festival runs from noon to 11 p.m. and will take place at Mt. Timpanogos Park, which is one mile up Provo Canyon.
Attendees are welcome to come an hour early to get set up, Monks said. Guests are encouraged to bring sunscreen, snacks and a backpack. They may also bring umbrellas, chairs, blankets and shaded tents. Pets and alcohol will not be permitted, and there will be no overnight camping.

The rock wall will be available from noon to 3 p.m., and Provo Yacht Club will DJ the event from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Guitar Center will sponsor a raffle for a Fender Stratocaster, Monks said. For more information on the raffle, follow the event on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
Monks said this is a free event so people will come out and musicians and businesses can have the opportunity to share their services and talents with a large community that can benefit from the exposure.
"Our goal is to bring bands and brands together and expose both to fans," Monks said.
Very limited $5 parking is available at the event, and free parking is available at the Clearlink parking lot at the base of the canyon.
Monk said they highly encourage attendees to bike to the event since they are expecting such a big crowd and have about 500 parking spots. Mad Dog Cycles will provide free bike valet and free bike tune-ups.
