PAGE, Ariz. (AP) -- A Utah teenager drowned Sunday at Lake Powell.

Glen Canyon National Recreation Area officials say Derrick Radley Bedoni, 17, of Oljato, Utah was with a group of family and friends celebrating Father's Day.

He and a friend tried to swim across Farley Canyon. Bedoni began having difficulties about 35 yards from shore. Friends and family were unable to reach him before he went underwater.

Divers recovered his body on Monday. It was the first fatality at Glen Canyon this year.
