NEW YORK (AP) — The Tampa Bay Rays have activated first baseman James Loney (LOH'-nee) from the 15-day disabled list and inserted him into the cleanup spot for tonight's game against the New York Yankees. Loney was out with a broken finger since sustaining the injury sliding headfirst into third base on May 24.
NEW YORK (AP) — Robin Lopez has agreed to sign with the New York Knicks, a person with knowledge of the details has told The Associated Press. Yahoo Sports is reporting Lopez gets a four-year deal worth $54 million.
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — The San Jose Sharks have signed veteran forward Joel Ward to a three-year contract. The 34-year-old had 19 goals and 15 assists last season with Washington. Ward has 97 goals and 123 assists in 517 career games with Minnesota, Nashville and Washington.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — NASCAR is the latest corporation to distance itself from Donald Trump after his inflammatory statements regarding Mexican immigrants. The motorsports series says it was not hold its season-ending awards ceremony at the Trump National Doral Miami as it did last year.
