SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — An estranged wife of polygamist leader Lyle Jeffs plans to testify against the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and two polygamist towns on the Utah-Arizona line. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Charlene Jeffs will testify in the U.S. Department of Justice lawsuit accusing the towns of discriminating against non-FLDS residents.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Classes have resumed at the University of Utah after air conditioning problems in eight of the campus's 300 buildings forced cancelations. KUTV-TV reports that professors either canceled or moved classes Monday after some of the air conditioning equipment stopped working. Air conditioning was restored Monday afternoon.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Opponents of Utah's first tar sands mine are calling on state officials to withhold approvals for the project because new evidence shows water in the area will be negatively impacted. The Canadian company building the mine says there aren't measurable quantities of water in the area and that the mine will have minimal effect.

ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — A 52-year-old woman accused of causing a fatal car crash when she was texting and driving has agreed to a plea deal. Carla Brennan pleaded no contest to a reduced automobile homicide charge during an emotional hearing in a St. George courtroom. Her car rear-ended another vehicle, which struck 56-year-old David Henson and his wife, killing him and seriously injuring his wife.
