ST. GEORGE — Police in St. George are warning residents to watch out for fake parking citations.

So far only one fake citation has been reported, but St. George police said it appears to be part of a scam. A woman brought the fake ticket to police after finding it on her car in a parking lot near the city building, according to investigators.

A photo of the fake parking citation was posted on the St. George Police Department’s Facebook page Thursday. The post states that the website and phone number listed on the paper are not affiliated with police. Additionally, real parking citations look different.

“All parking citations are paid through our records department at 265 N 200 E, phone number 435-627-4301,” the Facebook post reads. “If you find a citation like this on your vehicle please contact the police department.”
