FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) — Freshman Connor Seabold tied a career high with nine strikeouts and David Olmedo-Barrera had three RBIs, leading Cal State Fullerton to a 10-1 win over Pepperdine on Sunday night and into the Super Regionals.
The Titans (37-22) advanced to the round of 16 for the 12th time since 1999, and will play at Louisville in a best-of-three series next weekend. The winner advances to the College World Series.
Seabold (5-3) gave up six hits over six innings for the Titans. Chandler Blanchard (4-4) allowed six runs in 3 2/3 innings in the loss.
Olmedo-Barrera gave the Titans a 2-0 lead in the third with an RBI single, and Fullerton took control in the fourth. A.J. Kennedy had an RBI double, Tyler Stieb drove in a run on a sacrifice fly and Olmedo-Barrera added a 2-run double to make it 6-0.
Fullerton improved to 8-3 against Pepperdine (32-29) in the postseason.
