Sandra Yi ReportingPolice are asking for help identifying a man caputured on surveillance video. The man used the ATM card of an assault victim.

On June 14th, the victim was at the Vortex nightclub. Sometime that night, or early the next morning, he got into a fight with a group of people in the parking lot. Twenty-three-year old Matthew Freeman was punched and has been in a coma ever since.

Police have no suspects, but say the man in the surveillance video used Freeman's ATM card at a convenience store in West Valley City. They hope someone will recognize him.

Det. Kevin Joiner, Salt Lake City Police Dept.: "We need to get him identified. We don't know if he's actually the person involved in the assault, but we need to find out because he's in possession of that ATM card. So we need to find out what his involvement is."

Freeman is from North Carolina and a student at the University of Utah. He was expected to graduate in August.

After the assault, Freeman's family flew out to Salt Lake. In an interview last week, they told us that Freeman doesn't have any enemies, and they have no idea why anybody would want to hurt him.

Danielle Freeman: "A lot was taken from him. His future was taken from him that night, and it's just awful."

The suspect may be driving a red or orange Dodge/Plymouth Neon.

Police hope any witnesses will come forward. If you have any information, call Salt Lake City Police.
