MISSOULA, Montana (AP) — The University of Montana will see a budget shortfall of $5.7 million for the upcoming year, according to figures provided at the most recent campus budget committee meeting.
The Missoulian reports (http://bit.ly/1Rw10qs ) that the vice president of finance at the university Mike Reid says the university's revenue projections have held.
A drop in enrollment and rise in costs have left the university in a financial dilemma.
Incoming president of the Faculty Senate and longtime professor Bill Borrie says the financial challenges could have an impact in classrooms with teachers having to face larger class sizes.
Reid says there is good news in early data which shows more out-of-state-residents, who pay more, will enroll at the Missoula campus in the upcoming year.
