UNDATED (AP) — A lot of people are cleaning up after severe storms rocked the nation's midsection over the past few days. There've been torrential rains and tornados. A twister touched down near the North Texas town of Denton today and there's been flooding in nearby Krum, requiring rescues. In South Dakota, a tornado damaged buildings and injured nine people in little Delmont.
BUCHANAN, N.Y. (AP) — Part of a New York nuclear power plant remains offline after a transformer fire last night. Officials say it could be weeks before Indian Point 3 is reopened again. The reactor itself is deemed safe and stable and there was no radioactive release. But thousands of gallons of transformer fluid leaked into the Hudson River. Containment and cleanup is now underway
MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — A 17-year-old boy arrested last week when police allegedly found three homemade bombs in his family home has appeared in a children's court in Melbourne, Australia. The teen is charged with planning a terrorist act. He faces a potential sentence of life in prison if convicted. He did not enter a plea and did not apply for bail. He will appear next on May 26.
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) — The new Saudi king will not attend an upcoming summit of heads of Gulf Cooperation Council countries at Camp David. Saudi Arabia's foreign minister says the summit coincided with a humanitarian cease-fire in the conflict in Yemen. President Barack Obama had planned to meet with King Salman a day before the Thursday summit.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The "Age of Ultron" is not over. The Avengers sequel has topped the domestic box office for the second week with an estimated $77.2 million according to Rentrak estimates. The film has earned a staggering $312.9 million in just 10 days in theaters, tying with "The Dark Knight" to become the second fastest film to do so.
