SALT LAKE CITY — Thousands of runners braved rainy weather Saturday to help raise money to fight breast cancer at the 2015 Komen Utah Race for the Cure.

More than 9,000 people showed up in rain gear and umbrellas, determined to run or the walk their way to the finish line.

The annual event, the largest such fundraiser in the state, started in 1997. About three-quarters of the proceeds will stay in Utah to support local breast health programs.
