TORONTO, Canada — Before-and-after pictures are almost always fun to look at, but a photographer and his friend took the concept to a whole new level.

The Beth Project took more than two years to complete, and the effort was well worth it. The series of photos show Blake Morrow’s friend Beth before and after losing 150 pounds. What makes the project unique is that the images were digitally integrated so Beth’s two selves could interact with each other in pop culture-inspired photos.

Beth posed for the photos two years apart, according to Morrow’s blog. He said it was an honor to document her journey.

“To properly communicate and celebrate Beth’s accomplishment, her body shape has not been digitally altered,” Morrow wrote.

The Beth Project is on display in Toronto, Canada, until May 31 as part of the 2015 Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival. Morrow also regularly shares his work on Instagram and Twitter.
