MADRID (AP) — Italian coach Sergio Scariolo will take over Spain's national basketball team for a second stint.

Scariolo coached Spain to the Olympic silver medal in 2012 when it lost to the United States in the final. He also led Spain to two European championships in 2009 and 2011 in his first stint as coach from 2009-12.

Spain had been without a coach since parting ways with Juan Orenga after its disappointing 2014 World Cup at home, when it failed to reach the final despite having a team that included Pau and Marc Gasol and several other NBA players.
