BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Court documents say a man told investigators he used a gun hidden in his pocket to kill an Idaho police officer because he feared the officer would find the weapon. The records say 26-year-old Jonathan Renfro told authorities he shot Coeur d'Alene police Sgt. Greg Moore and then stole his patrol car. Moore was checking on a suspicious person when he was gunned down.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho water managers say they are conducting negotiations to prevent mass water shutoffs from Jerome to Idaho Falls even though a final deal could result in long-term farming changes for southern Idaho irrigators. One possible option would enforce pumping changes to reduce overall water use by irrigators even in plentiful water years.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The trustees of a community college that purchased a plot of land at twice its assessed value will likely seek an appraisal of the property. The Idaho Statesman reports that the College of Western Idaho Board of Trustees Chairwoman says she does not want to speculate on what the board will do with the appraisal results.

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — Eight women and one man were arrested during a two-night law enforcement operation targeting prostitution at the Coeur d'Alene Casino. Casino managers asked the police for help after seeing an upswing in activities, which indicated that prostitutes were operating in the area. Officials said they hoped to reduce the number of prostitutes operating in Kootenai County. The sheriff's office worked with Coeur d'Alene Tribal Police and the FBI because the casino is within tribal jurisdiction.
