SALT LAKE CITY — A rollover accident caused a car to hit the front of the popular Salt Lake cookie shop, RubySnap, Tuesday evening.

At about 7:20 p.m. police responded to a reported car accident in the intersection of 800 South and 300 West. When police arrived, they found a two-car crash sent a car into RubySnap at 770 S. 300 West, said Sgt. Stefhan Bennett with Salt Lake City Police Department.

"One vehicle had been northbound and the other westbound. The vehicle that was going northbound after the impact, is the one that struck right in the front door of the bakery."

Bennett said the accident occurred after one of the vehicles ran a red light, but the details of the accident were unclear Tuesday night.

According to Sgt. Bennett both parties involved in the accident had very minor injuries, and there was no one inside RubySnap at the time.

"The building — which we are really lucky — appears to have been unoccupied at the time and appeared to be closed for business. The car struck the front entrance and appears to have cause significant structural damage to the building," Bennett said.

Police do not have an estimate for how much building damages will cost.

No driver impairment is currently suspected, Bennett said, but the accident is still under investigation.
