NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — A delegation from Djibouti is visiting Yale University this week to discuss plans to develop a climate model for East Africa and Arabia.
The group including the East African nation's minister of higher education, scientists and legal advisers is planning to meet with experts at the Yale Climate and Energy Institute.
Discussions are expected to focus on combining results from the climate modeling with other efforts to predict the severity of possible health pandemics and food crises.
Mark Pagani is director of the Yale institute and a professor geology and geophysics. He says the potential collaboration is significant because nobody else has evaluated future impacts to East Africa's climate on such a large scale.
