WOODS CROSS — Three-year-old Aidden Fitisemanu has been found safe after he was taken by his father Fitisemanu Fitisemanu, Jr. late Friday night in Woods Cross, police say.
Fitisemanu left with the child at around 8 p.m. and was walking around on foot, according to the Woods Cross Police Department's Twitter account.
Woods Cross police officer Chris Hoffman said it started with an altercation between Fitisemanu and his father, the 3-year-old's grandfather.
There was an incident where officers responded to a home in the area of 1900 S. 1500 W.," Hoffman said. "The indication was that there was an altercation, we're unsure right now if it was verbal or physical with the grandfather of the child and his son, who is the father of the child."
The child had a protective order against the father, which should have kept the father away. According to Hoffman the order wasn't in regards to danger towards the child, but other domestic issues.
"It looks like it was in regards to some other domestic incidents," Hoffman said. "We don't believe at this time that there is an indication that he's necessarily a real threat to him. There is a protective order and we are concerned for the child's welfare. "
More information will be posted when it's available.
