PROVO — The Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum is bringing back its popular nature photography competition and exhibit, and is seeking local submissions to put on display.

Amateur and professional photographers are invited to participate in the competition. Winners will have their photos displayed in the museum Feb. 26-April 3, according to a Brigham Young University news release.

“The competition seeks to recognize the best of nature photography and put those prized works on display for all to enjoy,” the news release said.

All photos must be taken in a natural outdoor setting. Categories for the exhibition include landscape, nature, water, man and nature, animal wildlife and bird wildlife. Submissions must be mounted and matted and only white mat board will be accepted. Entries can’t be double matted and prints that are framed or covered in plexiglas will not be accepted.

Cash awards will be presented to the winners in each category, as well as overall awards including Best of Show, Museum’s Choice Purchase Award, Allen’s Camera Excellence Award and People’s Choice Award. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Bean Life Science Museum and the public is invited.

Photos must be submitted Feb. 21 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to the Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum at 645 E. 1430 North in Provo. Read all the contest rules here.

Admission to the museum is free.
