MARTIN, Tenn. (AP) — Twymond Howard scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and UT Martin routed Eastern Illinois 81-51 on Thursday for its fifth straight home win.
Alex Anderson scored 16, including four 3-pointers, Marshun Newell had 15 with 11 rebounds, and Deville Smith added 12 for the Skyhawks (13-7, 5-2 Ohio Valley Conference), who never trailed.
Smith put the Skyhawks up 14-9 with a layup, then Anderson broke the game open with three straight 3-pointers for a 28-17 UT Martin lead. Smith scored all of his points in the first in the half and the Skyhawks led 43-22 at halftime.
Howard scored 12 of UT Martin's first 14 points of the second half for a 57-27 lead and the Skyhawks cruised, outshooting the Panthers 60.9 percent to 33.3 percent and making 11 of 20 from distance (55 percent).
Trae Anderson led the Panthers (12-9, 6-3) with 14 and Dylan Chatman added 12.
