Adam Thomas reportingThe Utah Transit Authority is signing off on a record deal.

Siemens is the company that builds light-rail cars in Sacramento, and it got a big order from UTA: 77 new cars for $277 million, with an option for another 180. That 180 will probably be re-sold to other cities, though.

With new lines to the airport, west side and a south extension in the works, there's a need to more than double the number of TRAX cars.
