BRIGHAM CITY, Utah (AP) — Funeral services for a northern Utah sheriff who died of natural causes are scheduled Friday and Saturday.
A viewing for longtime Box Elder County Sheriff J. Lynn Yeates will be held at the Gillies Funeral Chapel in Brigham City on Friday. Funeral services are set for Saturday at the Box Elder LDS Stake Center in town, with burial to follow.
An officer found Yeates dead at his home Tuesday after he did not show up to work. The 68-year-old Yeates had been sworn in a day earlier to begin serving his third term as sheriff.
The vacancy left by his death will be filled through a special election.
