NEW YORK (AP) — Good economic news and higher demand for fuel are factors analysts are citing for soaring stock prices. The Dow Jones closed today above the 18,000-point mark for the first time and the S&P had its second record-high close in two days. Despite weak growth overseas, geopolitical troubles and other concerns, investors have repeatedly bet on the U.S. stock market.

HONOLULU (AP) — Vice President Joe Biden plans to be among the mourners at the funeral for a New York City policemen gunned down Saturday. The White House says President Barack Obama has asked Biden to attend Saturday's service for Rafael Ramos at Christ Tabernacle Church in Glendale, New York. Biden's wife will also attend.

CLEVELAND (AP) — The family of a 12-year-old boy fatally shot by a Cleveland officer is denouncing violence against police. A lawyer for the family of Tamir Rice says his relatives equally reject violence against police as they reject police brutality. The boy was playing at a Cleveland playground with a toy gun that shoots plastic pellets when an officer shot him.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Because of a vague terror threat, security has been enhanced at bridges in Memphis near the Mississippi river. The FBI has called for increased security because of an unsubstantiated threat from an Islamic State cell. Two cross-country routes that traverse the Mississippi in Memphis — Interstates 40 and 55, remain open.

NEW YORK (AP) — Sony Pictures has reversed course and now says it will release "The Interview," which had been pulled because of threats from the same hackers who launched a cyberattack against its computers. The film, which has angered North Korea, will open Thursday in limited theaters.
