SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Republican-controlled state health panel has rejected Gov. Gary Herbert's Medicaid expansion plan to enroll poor Utah residents in private health insurance. The Health Reform Task Force voted to reject Herbert's plan and recommend two alternatives that are less expensive but cover fewer people.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A 67-year-old California man accused of groping and sexually propositioning a teenage girl on a flight from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City is expected in court for a change of plea hearing today. Hans Loudermilk is currently pleading not guilty. He was arrested after the 15-year-old spoke to security officers shortly after landing.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police have arrested a woman suspected of leaving two disabled men under her care in filthy conditions at a home in Cottonwood Heights. Police Lt. Mark Askerlund says officers found trash, human and animal feces, food and boxes scattered through the house. He called the conditions filthy and deplorable.

NORTH OGDEN, Utah (AP) — North Ogden city officials are working to have other religions represented next to a Christmas display outside city hall. KUTV reports the city received complaints about a Nativity scene in front of the public building over the past few weeks. Mayor Brent says there are plans to add a Hanukkah display as soon as this week.
