BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Your Health Idaho's executive director says nearly 74,000 Idahoans have selected a health insurance plan on the state-based exchange. However, he did not say how many of those enrolled for the first time. Last year, roughly 76,000 people signed up on Idaho's exchange. Idaho's exchange enrollment period ends Feb. 15.

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — School district officials in northern Idaho's Coeur d'Alene say they're $1.8 million short when it comes to paying for a new school scheduled to open next fall. The Spokesman-Review reports the Superintendent said he learned about the shortfall about two months ago, and has since increased oversight of the $8 million construction project. Trustees will consider using district reserves or selling property to cover the cost.

ST. ANTHONY, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho man has been sentenced to two years' probation after Idaho Fish and Game officials said he illegally killed a grizzly bear. Idaho Fish and Game says 23-year-old Kenneth Sommer, of Newdale was hunting for black bears in eastern Idaho when the grizzly was shot. Sommer told conservation officers he shot the grizzly after it charged him and his wife, but Idaho Fish and Game investigators said they found no evidence that the bear had ever charged.

LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — Investigators in north-central Idaho are examining the death of a 47-year-old Lapwai man who was found hanging in a jail cell. Nez Perce County deputies found Maynard Ellenwood Jr. during a routine safety check Sunday morning. Ellenwood was arrested late last week on a felony drunken driving charge.
