NEW YORK (AP) — Alex Rodriguez will know where he stands when spring training starts. Yankees' general manager Brian Cashman has told The Associated Press that Rodriguez is no longer an everyday player and that he will be a designated hitter for the team.

MIAMI (AP) — The Miami Marlins have reportedly come to terms with first baseman Mike Morse. A person familiar with the negotiations has told The Associated Press that the Marlins and Morse have agreed to a two-year contract.

HOUSTON (AP) — Houston's Cougars have a new football coach. As expected Ohio State offensive coordinator Tom Herman has accepted the job and agreed to a five-year, $6.75 million dollar contract. With Herman in charge of the quarterbacks and offense the Buckeyes have gone 36-3 over the past three seasons.

UNDATED (AP) — Former Nebraska football coach Bo Pelini (peh-LEE'-nee) has reportedly accepted the head coaching job at Youngstown State. A person with knowledge of the agreement says Pelini, who was fired by the Cornhuskers last month, is still working on the deal. The 47-year-old had a record of 67-27 with Nebraska.

MEMPHIS (AP) — The red-hot Golden State Warriors are looking for their 17th straight win this evening as they face the Grizzlies in Memphis. Rookie coach Steve Kerr has led the Warriors to a 21-2 year and an amazing 13-1 in road games.
