CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) -- State and federal wildlife agencies have joined the Utah Humane Society in offering reward money for information about a series of poisonings that killed more than a dozen prairie dogs.

Twelve of the federally protected animals were found dead in an Enoch subdivision April 28. Nearly 60 poison-laced peanut butter ball were found scattered in the neighborhood.

Division of Wildlife Services officer Lt. Scott Dalebout says two similar incidents were reported earlier this year.

DWS is offering a $1,000 rewarding for information leading to an arrest. The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service has chipped in another $2,500 and the Humane Society has offered $5,000.
