SOUTH SALT LAKE — A 12-year-old girl is listed as missing and endangered after police say she walked away from a youth home. Another girl is also missing, and police believe the two may have left together.
McKenzey Madill, 12, left the Salt Lake County Juvenile Girl’s Youth Home that treats allegedly abused or neglected children, located at 177 W. Price Ave., Sunday around 10 p.m., according to the South Salt Lake Police Department.
Madill, who does not have a history of running away, may have left the home with Satara Bylsma, 15, who has run away previously, police said. They may have crawled through a window of the non-secure facility.
The two girls are unrelated and do not share a room at the youth home, according to police. Madill is listed as endangered, due to her age and the extremely cold weather.
Madill is described as a white girl, standing about 5 foot, 4 inches, weighing about 159 pounds. She has red hair, blue eyes, freckles and a scar by her nose. She was last seen wearing a pink coat, police said.
Bylsma was last seen wearing pajama pants and a sweatshirt. She is described as a white female with brown hair that is shaved on one side, 5-feet, 6-inches tall, weighing about 115 pounds.
