PROMONTORY, Utah (AP) -- NASA and aerospace company ATK tested a reusable space shuttle rocket booster to see how it's holding up more than seven years after it was built.

Results from the test Thursday will be compared with a similar test done three years ago on an identical rocket booster.

ATK says an average of 2.6 million pounds of thrust was generated during the test.

NASA will use the results as it develops the Ares I, which is scheduled to replace the space shuttle fleet after it is retired in 2010.
