SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Higher market prices and stronger natural-gas production are leading Questar Corp. to a first-quarter profit of nearly $186 million.
The company's earnings were up 23 percent, or $1.05 per share, compared to the same period in 2007.
Questar, a gas driller with huge reserves, has been beefing up production and pipeline systems in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming. It also operates a Utah utility, Questar Gas.
Questar shares were up 3 percent to more than $64 Monday. The stock price has steadily risen since January.
Questar chief Keith Rattie is raising production and income estimates for the year.
