PITTSBURGH — When two of the boys detective Jack Mook coached at a boxing gym stopped coming, he took notice.

The 22-year veteran of the police force sought out Josh, who was 11, and discovered the boy and his younger brother were living with foster parents who were abusive, according to CBS News.

"They have had it as worse as any other kid that's ever lived in the city of Pittsburgh, living conditions wise," Mook told CBS. "And I had enough of it."

Mook took the boys into his own home as a foster parent before recently adopting them both. Watch the video to hear the whole story.
