LAS VEGAS (AP) — A conservative think tank has compiled a list of what it calls the most egregious examples of waste in Nevada government in the past two years. The so-called "Piglet Book" by the Nevada Policy Research Institute highlights unemployment checks going to inmates and dead people and a public hospital in Las Vegas failing to ask patients for payments.

SILVER SPRINGS, Nev. (AP) — A motorcyclist has been killed in a collision with a wild horse on U.S. Highway 50 in Silver Springs. The Nevada Highway Patrol says the cyclist struck the horse while it was standing in the highway last night. The cyclist was thrown from his bike and hit by three other vehicles.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A 27-year-old native of Belize has been indicted in Las Vegas on multiple charges in the shooting death of one woman and the wounding of another. The shooting occurred Aug. 16 in a parking lot outside a steak and sushi restaurant. Police say Carim Cruz was arguing with the boyfriend of the woman who was killed.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Virgin America says it's adding seasonal non-stop flights between Las Vegas and Boston starting in January. The route is a first for the airline, which says it's also adding two extra roundtrip flights between Las Vegas and New York between January and April. The Boston flights will be available Jan. 8 through April 28.
