CHICAGO (AP) — Flight cancellations are still plaguing Chicago's international airports, two days after a fire at a regional control center brought operations to a halt. The Chicago Department of Aviation says 550 flights were canceled this morning at O'Hare and 50 at Midway. At the height of the travel misery Friday, more than 2,000 flights in and out of the airports were canceled, sending waves of travel disruption rippling across the country. A contract employee is charged with setting the fire.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Rain and higher humidity have helped fire crews make more progress toward taming a massive wildfire in Northern California. The U.S. Forest Service says the King Fire east of Sacramento is now 87 percent contained, up 3 percent from yesterday. The blaze has burned more than 151 square miles since it began two weeks ago and destroyed about a dozen homes and nearly 70 other structures near Pollock Pines. More than 4,800 firefighters are still battling the blaze.

PHOENIX (AP) — Residents of the Phoenix area have been greeted by toppled trees and debris-littered streets today, after powerful thunderstorms brought heavy rain and strong winds to the region. The storm flooded roads, delayed flights and left thousands without power. The National Weather Service says Phoenix received a record 1.6 inches of rain and some spots got more than 2 inches.

WASHINGTON (AP) — House Speaker John Boehner (BAY'-nur) says despite what President Barack Obama says, the United States may have "no choice" but to send American troops to fight Islamic State militants. Boehner tells ABC's "This Week" it will take more than airstrikes to destroy the extremist group. Obama wants to rely on Iraqi forces, Kurdish fighters and soon-to-be trained Syrian rebels for the ground campaign.

NEW YORK (AP) — "The Equalizer" has made a $35 million debut, landing the thriller starring Denzel Washington in the No. 1 spot at the box office this weekend. Last weekend's top movie, "The Maze Runner," slid to second. The stop-motion animated release "The Boxtrolls" opened in third place.
