WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — Mike Nebrich passed for 315 yards with four touchdowns and ran for another as Fordham defeated Holy Cross 45-16 in a Patriot League opener on Saturday.

Fordham (4-1, 1-0) rambled to a 17-0 lead with three scores in the second quarter.

Holy Cross (2-3, 0-1) rallied with a couple of quick strikes — driving for a field goal in the final seconds of the first half, and opening the second with a 74-yard TD strike from Peter Pujals to Jake Wieczorek, closing to 17-9.

But Fordham stormed back with an 8-yard TD from Nebrich to Dan Light. On the next possession, Chase Edmonds (26 carries, 142 yards) put the Rams at the 4 with a 33-yard gainer. On the next play, Nebrich faked the handoff and ran it in.

Nebrich added two more TD passes in the fourth quarter, a 5-yarder to Marcus Jones and a 25-yarder to Brian Wetzel.
