Man threatens to detonate bomb, robs credit union

WEST JORDAN — Police are searching for a man after he allegedly displayed a bomb then robbed a credit union Wednesday morning.

The robbery occurred at the University of Utah Federal Credit Union at 8952 S. Redwood Road around 10:30 a.m., according to West Jordan police. A man entered the credit union and displayed a bomb while demanding money, police said. The man threatened to detonate the bomb.

The man left the credit union on a bicycle, but was seen getting into an older model, gray mini-van with Idaho license plates a few blocks away, police said.

The robbery was described as a white male in his 40s, around 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium build. The man had a tan complexion and was wearing a red T-shirt, denim pants and dark shoes at the time of the robbery.
