RANDOLPH, Utah (AP) — Northern Utah authorities say a man who killed his younger brother in an apparent accident during a hunting trip over the weekend was distraught after the shooting. Rich County Sheriff Dale Stacey said the brothers were together on a four-wheeler and pursuing an antelope when the younger one, who was 49, sat or kneeled a few feet in front of his older brother. Stacey said the older brother fired with a scope rifle and struck the younger one in the head.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A federal appeals court says a Utah man's freedom of speech was violated when he was convicted of a crime for sending a violent anti-immigrant poem to a University of Utah professor. A federal judge who found Aaron Michael Heineman guilty in 2011 refused to consider whether Heineman really meant to hurt the professor, but the appeals court said the government should have to prove Heineman intended the professor to feel threatened.
