BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Federal investigators have narrowed the possible causes of an airplane crash that killed Micron CEO Steve Appleton in 2012 in Boise. The National Transportation Safety Board says engine power was reduced during takeoff and Appleton decided to turn the plane around rather than make an emergency landing.

CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) — A former Idaho lawmaker is returning to the public eye after two highly publicized political scandals two years ago caused him to resign. The Idaho Press-Tribune reports that former GOP state Sen. John McGee is now serving as chairman of the Downtown Caldwell Organization. McGree quit the legislature amid sexual harassment allegations in 2012.

SANDPOINT, Idaho (AP) — Northern Idaho officials concerned about the increasing number of oil trains passing through the region are seeking a grant to create a regional response plan should a railroad catastrophe occur. The Bonner County Daily Bee reports that the plan would include Boundary, Bonner and Kootenai counties.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A southwest Idaho city councilman has resigned from office after admitting to investigators that he had sex with a 17-year-old girl. Fifty-six-year-old Bradley Spencer stepped down yesterday in a letter he submitted to the Middleton City Council. Police arrested Spencer last week and he's been charged with felony sexual battery of a minor.
