(KSL News) The National Park Service has banned kite tubing on Lake Powell.
It made the decision after an evaluation of accidents involving this new activity, and labels it "extremely dangerous."
Inflatable kite tubes are towed by a boat and rise 15- to 60 feet into the air. Park officials say the slighest change in wind can upset the balance and send the tube crashing to the water.
The ban applies to the entire park system, including Lake Powell.
