GREEN RIVER, Wyo. (AP) — A black bear cub captured in Green River won't be released to the wild just yet.

Wyoming Game and Fish Department spokeswoman Lucy Diggins-Wold says the cub is just too young and too small.

Game and Fish officials tranquilized and captured the cub near a park Monday and initially planned to release him to the wild.

The cub weighs 30 pounds and is about 5 months old. Black bears typically stay with their mothers until they are 2 years old.

The Rock Springs Rocket-Miner reports (http://bit.ly/1rOrvgB) Game and Fish plans to transfer the cub to a facility in Idaho that specializes in rehabilitating black bear cubs. The goal is to get to the cub to the point where he would be able to fend for himself in the wild.
