HOOVER, Ala. (AP) — State education officials say they plan to examine a significant drop in test scores at a Hoover elementary school.

State schools Superintendent Tommy Bice said he plans to have his staff take a deeper look at the decline in test scores at Hoover's Trace Crossings Elementary School in 2012 due to concerns of potential irregularities.

Al.com reports (http://bit.ly/1vMRiXe) that Trace Crossings was one of three Hoover schools that failed to make "adequate yearly progress" on state tests in 2012.

A former principal at the school said she believes some of the 2012 scores are faulty due to a test administration error. Former principal Robin Litaker said she thinks fourth-grade students in the spring of 2012 weren't given enough time to take a math portion of the tests.
