RENO, Nev. (AP) — A Lake Tahoe woman who was attacked by a black bear in her backyard could become the first person in the area charged with illegally feeding the wild animals. California wildlife officials say the woman has been feeding bears for years in her yard on the lake's north shore at Kings Beach. She was treated for bite wounds to her shoulder after she reported the attack on Aug. 5.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — The Carson City Sheriff's Office is warning residents of a telephone scam where victims are told police have a warrant for their arrest. Sheriff Ken Furlong says someone pretending to be Carson City Undersheriff Steve Albertsen has been calling from several phone numbers. KOLO-TV reports the hoaxer tells residents there's a warrant for their arrest stemming from unpaid traffic tickets.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police have identified a woman who was fatally shot by a Las Vegas man who also shot himself to death last Tuesday. The Review-Journal reports Clark County coroner's officials say 59-year-old Monica Horan was the victim in the suspected murder-suicide. Police say the bodies of Horan and 69-year-old Robert Hender were found next to each other at her home west of downtown.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A New Hampshire couple has won $2.4 million at a notoriously stubborn MGM Grand slot machine. Walter Misco played for about five minutes before hitting the jackpot at the 20-year-old "Lion's Share" machine at about 11 p.m. Friday. The 66-year-old retired businessman said his wife Linda Misco suggested he play that night. He said the two read about the machine online.
