LAS VEGAS (AP) — Prosecutors say police were justified in shooting a man who they say entered a stranger's Las Vegas home last summer and then ran toward police with a knife and hammer.
The Clark County District Attorney's Office announced Tuesday that they'd cleared officers after the death of 35-year-old Southaly Ketmany (SOOD'-uh-lee KET'-mun-ee).
Authorities say the man had been reported missing and was seen wandering around the neighborhood July 23, 2013, before he was found sitting in his underwear and watching television in the home.
Police say they tried for more than 2 1/2 hours to convince him to surrender and used methods including a Taser and rubber bullets before he was shot.
Ketmany was from Sacramento and was visiting friends and family in Las Vegas when he went missing for days.
