LAS VEGAS (AP) — Clark County Republicans say the Democratic candidate for a Las Vegas-area assembly seat doesn't meet residency requirements and should be kicked off the ballot. GOP officials say District 34 candidate Meghan Smith moved into the district only a week before filing for office. Smith told the Las Vegas Review-Journal she moved into the new home before selling the old one.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — A Los Angeles-based group that's pushing a bill requiring porn performers to wear condoms during California film shoots has filed its first complaint in Nevada. The AIDS Healthcare Foundation filed a formal complaint with Nevada's Occupational Safety and Health Administration against a San Francisco production company that made an adult film in Las Vegas. The company CEO calls the complaint baseless.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 20 for three women accused of smuggling cellphones to a Nevada prison inmate. The women were arrested after officials say Ammar Harris was found with cellphones at High Desert State Prison in Indian Springs. Harris is awaiting a death penalty trial in a Las Vegas Strip shooting and fiery crash that killed three.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police have arrested a suspected bank robber after a high speed chase from St. George, Utah, into Nevada, The FBI says 24-year-old Sandeep Kuar is suspected of robbing banks in Utah, California and Arizona. The FBI says she is the so-called "Bombshell Bandit," nicknamed because she threatened to use explosives during the heists.
