OGDEN — A bank was evacuated Thursday after a man placed a device in front of a teller that may be an explosive, police said.

A bomb squad responded to the Bank of Utah located at 115 Washington Boulevard after the man placed a suspected explosive device in front of a teller while demanding money, according to the Ogden Police Department. The incident occurred at 1 p.m.

“The suspect fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of currency,” according to a statement from Ogden police. “The suspect left the explosive device in the bank and bank personnel were evacuated.”

As of 3 p.m., a bomb squad was working to process the device and determine if it is an explosive. It is not yet clear whether it is a legitimate device or a facsimile, according to investigators.

Police have identified the man as Randy Ted Jordan, according Ogden police's Facebook page. Police said Jordan drives a 1997 Ford Explorer with Idaho Plate 1BV6491, but he may have switched cars.

Police are still looking for Jordan who they described as being over 6-feet tall and of a medium build with dark hair. He was wearing a gray shirt and tan pants at the time of the robbery.

He was last seen running east on 2nd street in the 400 block, according to police.

Jordan is considered to be armed and dangerous, and police advise calling 911 if you see him. Anyone with information about Jordan can contact the Ogden City Police Department at 801-395-8221.
