RENO, Nev. (AP) — Lawyers for Amtrak, the Union Pacific Railroad and a Nevada trucking firm have started making their case in what's expected to be a six-week trial to determine who was to blame when a semi-truck slammed into a passenger train in a fiery crash that killed six people in 2011. The train companies' lawyer says John Davis Trucking was negligent. The trucking firm's lawyers argue Amtrak and Union Pacific failed to provide a proper signal warning.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The 34-year-old son of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy has been arrested in a case not connected to the dispute in April between armed protesters and federal agents over a cattle roundup. Las Vegas police say Cliven Lance Bundy was arrested without incident Monday and booked on charges of criminal contempt and parole violation.

GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities at Grand Canyon National Park say they're still searching for an Arizona man reported missing on a hike along the South Rim. Park officials say 36-year-old Marc Buckhout was reported missing by a member of his family on Saturday evening. Park officials say a dog team yesterday searched the area Buckhout was last seen and a technical rescue team covered terrain near the South Rim.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — MGM Resorts International is reporting a profit for its second quarter, helped by an IRS audit settlement and a strong showing among its properties on the Las Vegas Strip. CEO Jim Murren touted several new projects aimed at keeping the casino company ahead of the pack in Las Vegas, including a $375 million arena under construction on the Strip, new restaurants and an interactive Hershey's store that debuted in June.
