SALT LAKE CITY — The Great Salt Lake is a remnant of a much larger prehistoric lake called Lake Bonneville.
The Great Salt Lake is the 47th largest lake in the world, and the largest lake west of the Mississippi in the United States.
About 2 billion tons of salt flow into the lake.
