CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) -- A New Mexico man accused of kidnapping and killing a 19-year-old Brigham Young University student has pleaded not guilty.

Joel Courtney sat next to a court-appointed attorney Wednesday in an appearance by video.

The 41-year-old was extradited Tuesday to Corvallis from New Mexico, where he had been sentenced in an unrelated rape and abduction case.
