Utah is offering its help to Texas investigators looking into claims and conditions at the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' (FLDS) compound in Eldorado.
Right now, it's advice and essentially a copy of the primer the Utah Attorney General's Office developed to deal with polygamist communities.
"We've been working with polygamist communities for a number of years and wanted our expertise to make sure that they understand the culture, that they don't create anymore barriers when they're trying to interview the children," said Paul Murphy, spokesman for the attorney general's office.
Murphy says Utah hasn't been asked for manpower help yet, but the state is willing to pitch in, having started more of a dialogue over the past four years with polygamist communities.
