SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Two homes were destroyed in a wildfire Sunday in the southwestern Utah community of Veyo, the Bureau of Land Management said.
The fire, believed human-caused and under investigation, was reported at 3:34 p.m. and also damaged six other homes, eight vehicles, three outbuildings, a backhoe and a greenhouse.
The fire burned 60 to 70 acres.
Elsewhere, firefighters have begun trying to contain the Annabella fire seven miles southeast of Richfield after previously just managing it.
The lightning-caused blaze at Cove Mountain in the Fishlake National Forest has burned over 660 acres since Wednesday.
The fire previously was being managed instead of fought because of rough terrain and concern for firefighter safety, fire officials said Sunday.
However, it has moved to an area where direct suppression can occur more readily and firefighters were to begin constructing a fireline. Two bulldozers, five fire engines and two helicopters were assigned to the blaze, which was smoldering in mixed conifers.
Meanwhile, fire officials continued to manager the Blackbird Mine fire six miles east of Marysvale and the Meadow fire eight miles southeast of Fillmore.
The Blackbird Mine fire has burned 1,463 acres and the Meadow fire 28 acres.
