BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Boise City Council and Ada County Highway District are in a street fight.
Boise City Council President Maryanne Jordan in a letter blasted ACHD Director Bruce Wong after the district on Wednesday scrapped a monthlong experiment with bike lanes in the city.
Jordan says in the letter obtained by the Idaho Statesman (http://bit.ly/SxIUtA) that Wong's comments about convening a study group to find a solution to see "what demon emerges" means he isn't sincere about creating bike lanes in the city.
City councilors say bike lanes are needed to make the city more livable as well as safer for cyclists and pedestrians.
But commissioners make decisions about city streets and say it's important to keep vehicle traffic flowing.
Crews are scheduled to start removing the bike lanes this weekend.
