SYRACUSE — A man approached an officer Friday and confessed to allegedly robbing a Dairy Queen on April 15.
Joel Martinez, 19, approached a South Ogden police officer who was performing a traffic stop Friday, according to Syracuse police. Martinez told the officer that he wanted to confess to a crime he committed at the Dairy Queen in Syracuse on April 15, police said.
The officer contacted the Syracuse Police Department and Martinez was taken into custody for questioning. Syracuse police determined that Martinez, 19-year-old Federico Urquijo, and a 17-year-old female all played a role in the armed robbery of the Dairy Queen at 901 W. 1700 South.
Syracuse police reported that a man had entered the Dairy Queen and demanded money from the register while pointing a handgun at a clerk.
Martinez and Urquijo were both booked into the Davis County Jail on suspicion of aggravated robbery. The 17-year-old female was booked into the Farmington Bay Juvenile Correctional Facility on suspicion of aggravated robbery.
